It’s Not Just You
If you’re running a regulated business and things feel harder than they should – you’re not alone. And it’s probably not what you think it is.
It’s not a people problem. Your team is working flat out. It’s not a technology problem – you’ve probably already bought more systems than you need. And it’s not that you’re doing anything wrong. It’s that over the years, your business has grown and evolved in ways that nobody has stepped back to look at properly.
Every new regulation, every new client requirement, every problem that needed solving – each one got dealt with. A new process here. A workaround there. Someone built a spreadsheet. Someone else bought a tool. Every decision made sense at the time. But after ten or fifteen years of that, you end up with something that no single person can hold in their head anymore.
That’s not a failure. That’s just what happens when a regulated business grows organically. We see it everywhere. The same patterns, the same frustrations, the same feeling of “surely it shouldn’t be this hard.”
It shouldn’t. And it doesn’t have to be.
Who We Are
We’re Steven Quayle and Ben Wilde. We started Elevate because we’ve been on the inside of this problem – not as consultants looking in, but as the people responsible for making it work.
Before Elevate, we built the Isle of Man’s first fully digital bank together. Not advised on it. Built it. From a blank sheet of paper – every process, every function, every regulatory requirement. The first new bank on the island in over 35 years.
That experience taught us something you can’t learn from a textbook. When you’ve had to build an entire operation from scratch, you learn to see how everything connects: how a decision about how you onboard clients affects how you report to regulators twelve months later. How the way leadership communicates affects whether a new way of working actually sticks. How the gap between “how we think things work” and “how things actually work” is where almost every problem lives.
When we left and started working with other regulated businesses, we found the same thing, everywhere. Good people, working hard, in organisations that had outgrown their own operating model. And nobody had ever stopped to look at the whole picture.
That’s what Elevate does. We sit alongside your leadership team – not your IT department – and build an honest view of how your business actually operates. Then we help you decide what to do about it.
What We’ve Found
Since starting Elevate, we’ve worked with regulated businesses across banking, trust, and corporate services. Every business is different, but the patterns are remarkably consistent.
One business thought they had a process problem. They were right – but it went much deeper than they expected. When we mapped how the business actually operated end to end, we found significant duplication across the organisation, with the same client information being captured in different ways in different places. Nobody had a single, reliable view of their own clients. The manual workarounds that held everything together had been there so long they’d become invisible. Our report gave the board something they’d never had before: an honest picture of what they were actually working with, and a realistic plan for changing it.
Another business needed to decide whether their ageing platform could carry them forward or whether it was time for something new. They’d been going back and forth on it for years, never quite having the evidence to commit either way. We assessed their current setup – the workarounds, the key-person dependencies, the things that would break if anyone left – and gave the board a clear recommendation with the reasoning behind it. They made a decision in weeks that they’d been deferring for years.
Several businesses have kept us on after the initial work. We’re embedded with them now, working alongside their teams through the actual changes – helping people adapt to new ways of working, supporting leadership through difficult decisions, and keeping things honest when it would be easier to drift back to old habits.
How We’re Different
There are a lot of consultancies out there. Here’s why people work with us.
We’re business people, not IT people. We sit with your leadership team and talk about how the organisation operates — accountability, decision-making, risk, capacity. Technology comes into it, but it’s never the starting point. We’re not here to sell you a system.
We’ve done it, not just advised on it. We built a bank. We didn’t write a report about how someone else should build one. When we tell you something will work, it’s because we’ve had to make it work ourselves — under real regulatory scrutiny, with real money, and real consequences.
You get us. When you engage Elevate, you’re working with Ben and Steven. Not a junior team. Not a rotating cast of analysts. The people in the room are the people with twenty years of experience.
We’ll tell you the truth. Even when it’s uncomfortable. Especially when it’s uncomfortable. We’ve learned that the only way to build something sustainable is to start with an honest picture of where things stand. We’d rather have a difficult conversation now than let you spend money based on assumptions that don’t hold up.
Let’s Talk
If any of this sounds familiar — the feeling that things are harder than they should be, the sense that something’s not quite right but you can’t pin down what — the best first step is just a conversation.
No pitch. No pressure. No commitment. Just a candid chat about where your business is and whether we can help. If we’re not the right fit, we’ll tell you that too.
You don’t need to have the problem figured out before you call. That’s literally what we do.

Who We Are

Steven Quayle
Co-Founder – Chartered Accountant, Finance, Operations Director & MLRO
Steven has spent twenty years in finance, regulation, and operations before co-founding Elevate. He started as a Chartered Accountant and lead auditor for banking clients, which gave him a deep understanding of how regulated businesses work from the inside – the reporting, the risk management, the compliance frameworks that everything else depends on.
As Banking Operations Director, he led the creation of the Isle of Man’s first fully digital corporate bank in over 35 years. That experience changed how he sees business transformation. It’s not about the technology – it’s about getting the foundations right: the operating model, the governance, the alignment between what leadership wants to achieve and how the business is actually set up to deliver it.
At Elevate, Steven is the person who sees what others miss. The hidden costs buried in operating models that have grown organically over years. The risks that don’t show up in a spreadsheet. The gaps between what a business thinks is happening and what’s really happening on the ground.

Ben Wilde
Co-Founder – Head of Innovation, Digital Architect, Product Owner & Business Analyst
Ben has spent over twenty years driving transformation in regulated businesses, primarily in banking. He’s built digital products, led complex change programmes, and been responsible for making things actually work – not just on paper, but in practice, with real teams and real deadlines.
What makes Ben different is that he’ll tell you the truth. If something isn’t working, he’ll say so – clearly and directly, even if it’s not what you want to hear. He’s learned that the only way to build something lasting is to start with an honest view of where you stand today. No sugar-coating, no politics, no telling the board what they want to hear.
At Elevate, Ben brings a forensic ability to see how a business actually operates – how the people, the processes, and the information connect across the organisation, and where those connections break down. He’s the person who’ll sit with your team, understand what’s really going on, and help you see it clearly for the first time.
